A traditional handicraft of Jaipur, Blue Pottery has its origin in Turko-Persian. The impressive cobalt blue dye widely used in the pottery makes it known as Blue Pottery. In Jaipur, Blue Pottery is made out of a similar frit material to Egyptian faience which is glazed and low-fired. The pottery is prepared by blending quartz stone powder, powdered glass, fuller’s planet (Multani mitti), gum, water, and borax. Some of Blue Potteries are semi-transparent and are decorated with unique and attractive animal motifs.
